| Vegetation: | The site is described a Sweet Gale (Myrica gale) - Speckled Alder (Alnus rugosa) shrub fen occupying sand and silty sand deposits along the west bank of the Bonnechere River near the airfield (Noble 1983). Such sites are rare on the largely acidic substrates of Site District 5-10 and encountered only as elements within bog systems in the Upper Pine River zone in Algonquin Provincial Park and at the Green Lake Fen Candidate ANSI.
