| Description: | |
| Vegetation: | Acton Swamp is a large mixed swamp, similar to those found further to the west. The dominant trees are White Cedar, White Birch, Ash, Balsam Poplar and Red Maple. There are heavy thickets of Winterberry Holly. Areas that receive little light and are exposed to the limestone, contain a particularly closed ground cover of bog plants including Labrador Tea. [Halton R.M., 1978] |
| Landform: | The bedrock of the swamp is Guelph formation dolostone with mesisol organic soils.
This wetland serves as an important water storage area, with groundwater probably discharging into the receiving streams, tributaries of Sixteen Mile Creek (Ecologistics 1977). [Halton R.M., 1978] |
